A police officer in Canada has been suspended for taking part in a pro-Khalistan demonstration outside the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton, as reported by the media.
On Sunday, demonstrators waving Khalistani flags engaged in confrontations with attendees at the Hindu temple, disrupting a consular event that was jointly organized by the temple authorities and the Indian Consulate.
Unverified footage has been circulating on social media regarding the protest, which reportedly shows participants displaying banners advocating for Khalistan, according to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
Peel Police acknowledged awareness of a video on social media featuring an off-duty officer from their department involved in the protest. Media Relations Officer Richard Chin stated in an email to CBC News that the officer has been suspended in accordance with the Community Safety and Policing Act.
Chin further noted, “We are currently investigating the full context of the events depicted in the video and cannot provide additional information until the investigation is concluded.”
