According to a statement issued by the Supreme Court, CJI Justice Chandrachud spoke to his Bhutanese counterpart on October 9 on ways to strengthen bilateral judicial cooperation. Four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed in the presence of the Chief Justices of both the countries at the Supreme Court Complex in Bhutan.
Four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between India and Bhutan to enhance judicial and legal cooperation. The agreements were signed at an event presided over by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice DY Chandrachud and his Bhutanese counterpart Lyonpo Chogyal Dago Rigdzin. The CJI was on an official visit to Bhutan from October 7 to 10.

They aim to enhance judicial and legal cooperation between India and Bhutan. These include MoU between the apex courts of the two countries on enhancing judicial cooperation, renewal of MoU between National Judicial Academy, Bhopal and Bhutan National Law Institute on cooperation in legal education and capacity building between the two institutions, renewal of MoU between National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bengaluru and JSW School of Law on legal education and research and signing of MoU between Arbitration Council of India and Bhutan Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre for cooperation in strengthening and promoting arbitration.

During his visit, CJI Justice Chandrachud also met the King of Bhutan, Princess Sonam Dechan Wangchuck and Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay. They discussed a wide range of issues, including the unique and special ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
