Reports indicate that Arsh Dalla, a notable Khalistani terrorist and a close associate of the deceased pro-Khalistan leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, may have been arrested in Canada. Dalla, known for his involvement in cross-border terrorism and gang-related activities, is believed to have been taken into custody by the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) following a shooting incident in Ontario on October 28. While the Punjab Police has yet to confirm the arrest, sources suggest that one of the two individuals detained in connection with the incident may be Dalla, who faces numerous allegations of criminal and terrorist activities.
On October 29, HRPS announced the arrest of two men in relation to the shooting in Milton, Ontario. Both suspects were charged with “discharging a firearm with intent” after one sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was subsequently released from the hospital. The identities of the arrested individuals remain undisclosed, but sources have indicated that Arsh Dalla could be one of them. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Dalla, a 31-year-old gangster hailing from Dalla village in Punjab, has played a significant role in the Khalistani movement. In January 2023, he was designated a terrorist by the Indian government due to his involvement in targeted killings, terror financing, and extortion throughout the state. His activities have attracted the attention of national security agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which has connected him to various cases involving cross-border smuggling of drugs, weapons, and terror financing.
The Union Home Ministry has issued a notification under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), designating Dalla as a terrorist. His name has been associated with numerous high-profile criminal incidents in Punjab, which include disrupting communal harmony and instilling fear among the local populace.
Dalla’s close ties to the deceased Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was killed in Canada in June 2023, further complicate the ongoing efforts to dismantle international terror networks. It is believed that Dalla played a significant role in the radicalization of youth and the financing of various terrorist activities in Punjab, including the provision of logistical and financial assistance to gangsters and operatives.
